SAP Evolution
SAP Evolution traces the journey of SAP from its inception in 1972 to becoming a global leader in enterprise software solutions. Initially founded as Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung in Germany, SAP started with a vision to automate business processes. The company's first product, SAP R/1, was introduced in the early 1970s, followed by SAP R/2 in the 1980s, which supported multi-tier architectures. In the 1990s, SAP R/3 revolutionized ERP by integrating business functions on a client-server architecture. In the 2000s, SAP embraced SAP NetWeaver for enterprise integration and launched SAP HANA, its in-memory computing platform. The most significant advancement came with SAP S/4HANA in 2015, a cloud-based ERP suite built on SAP HANA, enabling real-time analytics and processing. Today, SAP continues to lead in digital transformation with innovations like SAP Leonardo (IoT, AI) and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), empowering businesses with smart, integrated solutions for a connected world.
