The ISSN Organization is a global network responsible for assigning and managing the International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSNs) for serial publications like journals, magazines, and newspapers. At the international level, the ISSN International Centre, based in Paris, France, oversees the system. It coordinates the efforts of ISSN National Centers in various countries, which handle the registration of ISSNs for serials published within their respective regions. These centers ensure proper cataloging, indexing, and identification of serial publications, facilitating efficient distribution and citation across libraries, academic institutions, and publishing platforms worldwide.
