Zakaria Ahmed
About
Dr. Zakaria has completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc in Microbiology (1993 and 1995 respectively), Dhaka University, Bangladesh. He has completed Ph.D in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology (2000), Ehime University, Japan. He worked in National Food Research Institute, Japan (2003-2005); Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), Bangladesh (1996-2003); Primeasia University, Dhaka, Bangladesh (2007-2016) and Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia (2010-2011). At present, He is working in Microbiology discipline, BJRI. Dr. Ahmed published several articles in different prestigious international and local journals, presented at international scientific conferences and meetings. He is the reviewer and Editorial Board Members of several reputed international journals. Dr. Zakaria was awarded Junior High School Governmental Scholarship (1983 to 1986); Departmental Scholarship (1989 to 1993); Governmental General Scholarship (1993 to 1995); Japanese MONBUSHO scholarship (1997-2000) and JSPS post-doctoral fellowship (2003-2005). His research involves Environmental and Natural Product Microbiology with particular reference to: Search for bio-pesticides for the control of crop and animal pests as a strategy of improving food security; Search for antimicrobial agents from medicinal plants; Synthesis of bioactive Natural Products; Bacterial Enzyme and its application and Medical Microbiology.
