About
Dr. P. R. Gogate is a distinguished professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. He joined the department on July 3, 2007, and has been instrumental in advancing research in diverse areas such as sonochemistry, hydrodynamic cavitation, process intensification, water and wastewater treatment, enzymatic reactions, and polymer chemistry. Dr. Gogate has guided 10 ongoing Ph.D. students, completed supervision of 27 master’s students, and is currently mentoring 8 master’s students. With an impressive record of 220 research publications, he has made significant contributions to his field. He holds a Ph.D. in Technology (2002) focused on studies in multiphase reactors, an M.Chem.Eng. (1998) in stirred contactors, and a B.Chem.Eng. (1996). Dr. Gogate teaches courses such as Advanced Chemical Reaction Engineering, Material Energy Balance Calculations, Separation Processes, and Engineering Applications of Digital Computers. Dr. Gogate’s academic and professional achievements are noteworthy. He has received numerous accolades, including the Hindustan Lever Biennial Award for Outstanding Chemical Engineer (2013), the SCEJ Award for Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer (2013), and the NASI-SCOPUS Young Scientist Award (2010). He has also been a member of prestigious editorial boards, such as Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, Advances in Environmental Research, and Desalination and Water Treatment. His work extends to international platforms, where he has been a visiting associate professor at Purdue University and a session chair at global conferences. Dr. Gogate has also contributed to industrial consultancy and sponsored research projects, further bridging the gap between academia and industry. His innovative research on advanced oxidation processes and wastewater treatment technologies has garnered recognition both nationally and internationally. As a Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences and a member of esteemed organizations like the Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK), his professional affiliations reflect his standing in the global scientific community. For any academic or professional inquiries, Dr. Gogate can be reached at his official email address, pr.gogate[@]ictmumbai.edu.in, or via his office extension, 2024.
