Dr. Ibitola Asaolu is a public health expert whose career has been deeply rooted in advancing maternal and child health, preventing violence, empowering women, and reducing the burden of HIV/AIDS. Currently serving as the Senior Manager of Health Economics & Outcomes Research at Philips, Dr. Asaolu leads U.S.-based real-world evidence strategies to support product development and FDA designations. She is a key player in generating health economic evidence and utilizing databases such as Medicare, Optum, and Premier to identify underserved populations and guide market strategies. Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Arizona and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology, with graduate certificates in Global Health and Maternal and Child Health, from the University of Kentucky. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Asaolu’s professional journey is defined by a combination of research, policy, and implementation. As an Epidemiologist II with the Tennessee Department of Health, she led a multidisciplinary team to monitor and prevent injuries and deaths among women and children, impacting over 6.9 million people. Her work included innovative methods to track maternal deaths and evaluate public health programs using real-world data. She has extensive experience in academia, serving as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona, where she instructed over 300 students in public health and global health. As a doctoral researcher, she designed and analyzed 15 peer-reviewed studies, developed the first psychometric tool for women’s empowerment in Africa, and contributed to impactful systematic reviews—some of which informed President Biden’s marijuana pardon efforts. Her international work includes leading qualitative research in Nigeria to understand contraceptive use barriers and promoting family planning and HIV prevention among at-risk groups. Dr. Asaolu’s interdisciplinary research integrates epidemiology, qualitative methods, and real-world data to drive public health outcomes. Her work addresses root causes of health disparities and translates evidence into scalable solutions. She has built partnerships across academic institutions, governments, and international agencies to shape policies that improve reproductive health, reduce violence, and strengthen health systems.
