MANIT Bhopal (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal)

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is one of the leading institutions of national importance in technical education. Established with the objective of developing a ‘Centre of Excellence in Central India, it aims at becoming a mul llence in Central India, it aims at becoming a multi-disciplinary centre for technical education by strengthening both teaching and research activities besides contributing to the needs of rural community, society and industry at large. The Institute is located on a plateau of about 650 acres in the midst of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The Institute, formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology, was established in 1960 as one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) in the country. In June 2002, it was elevated to the status of a Deemed University and renamed as Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology and achieved the status of ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the Parliamentary NITSER Act 2007. MANIT has a well-equipped campus consisting of Administrative buildings, Institutional buildings, Workshops, Energy Centre, Computer Centre, Library, Learning Resource Centre, and housing for faculty and staff. MANIT can accommodate 1,150 girls and 4,000 boys in well maintained hostels. MANIT developed an Incubation Centre aiming to build an entrepreneurship ecosystem for start-ups and to inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship. Other general amenities include, a Post-Office, Bank, Shopping Centre, School for children, Dispensary, Auditorium, Guest House, Sports Complex, Playgrounds along with vast lush green open areas and a beautiful lake. MANIT offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral programmes in Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Sciences, Computer Application, and Management. The programmes of study include nine Bachelors, one Dual Degree, twenty eight Masters of Technology, two Masters of Planning, two Masters of Science, Master of Computer Application (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) and various Doctoral programmes. MANIT collaborates with multiple foreign Institutions and Industries for Research and Development. It has established Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Smart Manufacturing, Water Resource Management and Cable Technology. MANIT has seamless internet connectivity in the entire campus and has recently added a Central Computing Facility, a Central Research Facility and a Data Centre.
