Entrepreneurial Orientation Among Diploma Students in Tiruchirappalli: Exploring Motivations, Institutional Support, and Employment Impact

    Abstract

Entrepreneurship as a source of employment in Tiruchirappalli District, Tamil Nadu: When small businesses act as a source of employment growth it would result in a decrease in the unemployment rate in the country especially for the youth population. Despite a succession of studies on entrepreneurship education and its policies and challenges in the region, the factors influencing entrepreneurial orientation outside formal education are unclear. The current study aims to determine the major motivations for entrepreneurship among Diploma students at Tiruchirappalli. And the continuing discussion of whether entrepreneurs are born or made highlights the importance of understanding these forces. Through a review of existing literature, this study aims to identify the factors that influence students' ability to create their own business ventures or continue with their family businesses. Because these students can launch and grow their own businesses, Diploma students are a significant target for this study.

    Results and Analysis

    Relevance and Originality:

The research article addresses a pertinent issue in the field of entrepreneurship, specifically focusing on the motivations of Diploma students in Tiruchirappalli to engage in entrepreneurial activities. The study's emphasis on small businesses as a source of employment growth is highly relevant, especially considering the challenges of unemployment among youth in the region. While the topic of entrepreneurship has been widely explored, the study fills a gap by examining entrepreneurial orientation outside formal education and by targeting a specific group—Diploma students. This focus provides originality, as it adds valuable insight into the factors influencing entrepreneurial intentions among a demographic often overlooked in the broader discourse on entrepreneurship education.

    Methodology:

The research design appears to be appropriate for the study's objectives, aiming to identify factors influencing entrepreneurial motivations among Diploma students. However, details on the data collection methods (such as sample size, selection criteria, or survey instruments) and analysis techniques are not clearly outlined in the research article. It would be helpful to specify how the data was gathered, whether through surveys, interviews, or other means, and what analytical tools were employed. A more thorough explanation of the methodology would enhance the transparency and replicability of the study, strengthening the overall research framework.

    Validity & Reliability:

The findings' robustness could be questioned due to the lack of clarity regarding the sampling process and the methodological rigor. Without a clear understanding of how representative the sample is or how data was triangulated or validated, the generalizability of the results is limited. If the study includes a small or homogenous sample, the conclusions may not be applicable to a broader context beyond the specific region or demographic of Diploma students in Tiruchirappalli. Additionally, a more detailed discussion of how the study controlled for potential biases or external factors influencing entrepreneurial motivations would help strengthen the validity and reliability of the findings.

    Clarity and Structure:

The organization of the research article is generally coherent, though certain areas could benefit from improved clarity. The introduction and purpose of the study are well defined, but the transitions between sections could be smoother, as some ideas seem to be introduced abruptly. Moreover, some concepts, such as the discussion of whether entrepreneurs are "born or made," could be more thoroughly elaborated to provide better context for readers. Overall, while the structure is logical, enhancing the flow and ensuring that each section builds naturally upon the previous one would improve readability.

    Result Analysis:

The result analysis demonstrates a general understanding of the factors influencing entrepreneurial motivations among the students. However, the depth of analysis could be improved by providing more detailed interpretations of the data, including how specific factors (such as family background or socio-economic status) influence entrepreneurial intentions. A more nuanced breakdown of the results would help clarify the relationships between the identified factors and the students' entrepreneurial orientation. The conclusions drawn appear to be based on the results, but further elaboration and statistical support would substantiate these claims more robustly.
