Journal Descriptions

JAMA Psychiatry is an international peer-reviewed journal for clinicians, scholars, and research scientists in psychiatry, mental health, behavioral science, and allied fields. The Archives of Neurology & Psychiatry began publication in 1919 and, in 1959, became 2 separate journals: Archives of Neurology and Archives of General Psychiatry. In 2013, their names changed to JAMA Neurology and JAMA Psychiatry, respectively. JAMA Psychiatry is a member of the JAMA Network family of journals, which includes JAMA, 11 JAMA Network specialty journals, and JAMA Network Open. JAMA Psychiatry strives to publish original, state-of-the-art studies and commentaries of general interest to clinicians and researchers in psychiatry, mental health, behavioral science, and allied fields. The journal seeks to inform its readers, to stimulate discussion into the nature, causes, treatment, and public health importance of mental illness, and to promote equity and justice for those affected by mental illness and for society.
