Predicting Negative Outcomes of Sexuality Using the Compulsive Sexual Behavior Inventory

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Compulsive Sexual Behavior Inventory (CSBI) and its relations with sexual behaviors and their outcomes. Data were collected from 390 young adults. Results indicated high levels of internal consistency for the CSBI (á = .87) and acceptable levels of construct and criterion-related validity. Forward stepwise logistic regression analyses suggest that the CSBI was capable of predicting negative outcomes and unprotected. The CSBI appears to hold great potential for use in sexual health programs focusing on young adults.
