Processing of mixed-plastic waste to fuel oil, carbon nanotubes and hydrogen using multi–core reactor

Conversion of mixed–plastic waste into carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and hydrogen–rich hydrocarbon gases was carried out in a multi–core reactor using Ni/Mo/MgO catalyst. The mixed plastic w...

Production of liquid hydrocarbons, carbon nanotubes and hydrogen rich gases from waste plastic in a multi-core reactor

In this paper, a new reactor design based on central core heating system is presented that optimized the heat utilization and allowed compact reactor design. Conversion of waste plastic into...

Synthesis of fuel oil and carbon nanotubes in an autoclave using plastic waste as precursor

In this study, the synthesis of fuel oil and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using waste plastic in a batch pyrolysis reactor of 750 mL capacity was carried out. Density, calorific values and FTIR...

Synthesis of carbon nanotubes in updraft flow CVD reactor using mixed plastic as precursor

Effect of oxygen containing hydrocarbon gases obtained from pyrolysis of mixed plastic waste containing different proportions of polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) over the yield and morphology of CNTs has been thoroughly studied. The PE as a precursor gives maximum CNT yield due to large proportion of CH4 and H2 in the pyrolysis gases. Pyrolysis of PET generates large amount of CO, CO2 and unsaturated hydrocarbons, which shows inactivity towards CNT growth. The result shows that increase in PET in plastic mixture decreases the yield of oil and CNTs.
