I have over 30 years of global experience in industrial safety, risk engineering, and corporate operations. I am currently the Director of Operations at QHSE Engineering Services and was previously a Royal Dutch Shell Approved Technical Authority, leading safety design assurance for large projects. I am also a Professor of Practice for engineering colleges and management institutions. My PhD research at Annamalai University focuses on accident causation and industrial safety analytics. I hold dual M.Tech degrees in Industrial Safety and Quality Management, along with Business Management qualifications from BITS Pilani and AIMA.

As the main conference speaker, presented a paper on “How to adhere to a safe operating envelope for assets from FEED through to construction and to commissioning."
As part of the post-conference workshop, presented a paper on “Understanding your asset and processes: how to make your PSM more efficient". The event provided practical case studies and best practices from major oil and gas firms and EPC contractors to address industry challenges and safety trends. By facilitating knowledge sharing among major exploration, production, and refining firms, the conference helped shape safety standards and operational risk mitigation procedures in the South East Asian oil and gas industry.

Process Design Safety
Process design safety integrates Inherently Safer Design (ISD) principles into industrial engineering to eliminate or reduce hazards at the conceptual stage. It utilizes four core strategies: minimization, substitution, moderation, and simplification to prevent accidents before they occur, managing risks to people, the environment, and business continuity. The methodology systematically removes or controls dangers through a structured, multi-tier approach: Identify and Assess: Utilize structured techniques like HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) during P&ID and layout development to evaluate how process deviations could cause catastrophic failures. Hierarchy of Controls: Prioritize passive (e.g., thicker containment vessels), active (e.g., automatic shutdowns), and administrative (e.g., standard operating procedures) safeguards. Safety Integrity Levels (SIL): Assign targeted reliability metrics to automated instrumented safety systems (SIS) to ensure risk reduction factors are met.
HAZOP Study
A Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study is a structured, multidisciplinary risk assessment method used to identify hazards and operability issues in a process plant. Pioneered in the UK, the methodology systematically applies guide words (e.g., no, less, more) to process parameters to discover deviations, causes, and necessary safeguards. The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in the UK is a leading provider of process safety education and offers globally recognized training courses for both HAZOP team members and leaders. HAZOP Study for Team Leaders and Team Members: Designed for engineers, operators, and technical personnel who need to participate in or transition to leading HAZOP studies. This training covers hazard identification, human factors, and best practices for risk scenarios. HAZOP Leadership and Management: An advanced course tailored for experienced professionals who intend to lead HAZOP studies. The course content aligns with the Engineering Council's UK-SPEC competencies and covers team facilitation and conflict resolution.

Neuroeconomics provides biologists, economists, psychologists and social scientists with a deeper understanding of how they make their own decisions and how others decide. Neuroscience, when allied with psychology and economics, creates powerful new models to explain why we make decisions. Neurobiological mechanisms of decision-making, decisions under risk, trust and cooperation will be central issues in this course. You will be provided with the most recent evidence from brain-imaging techniques (fMRI, TMS, etc.) and introduced to the explanatory models behind them.
