Serverless Computing and CI/CD Pipelines in Retail: Transforming Infrastructure Costs and Operational Efficiency
Abstract
The advent of serverless computing and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines has ushered in a new era of cost-effective and efficient infrastructure management in the retail sector. Serverless computing eliminates the need for traditional server management by automatically scaling resources based on demand, thus reducing operational costs and increasing agility. CI/CD pipelines automate the software development and deployment processes, ensuring faster delivery of updates and enhancing operational efficiency. This research explores the implementation of serverless computing and CI/CD pipelines in retail, focusing on their impact on infrastructure costs and operational efficiency. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative case studies, quantitative performance metrics, and expert interviews to assess the effectiveness of these technologies. Key findings indicate that serverless computing significantly reduces infrastructure costs, while CI/CD pipelines streamline the deployment process, reducing time-to-market and enhancing system resilience. The research provides actionable insights for retail organizations seeking to optimize their infrastructure management and achieve operational excellence. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research and practical applications of these technologies in the retail sector.
