CI/CD-Enabled Infrastructure as Code for Retail Enterprises: Ensuring Rapid Deployment and Operational Agility
Abstract
The digital transformation of retail enterprises necessitates agile and resilient infrastructure to adapt to the rapidly changing market demands. This research paper investigates the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid deployment and operational agility in the retail sector. Infrastructure as Code, which automates the management and provisioning of computing infrastructure through machine-readable definition files, combined with CI/CD pipelines, can significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of software development and deployment processes. This study explores the benefits, challenges, and best practices of integrating IaC into CI/CD workflows, focusing on real-world applications in retail enterprises. Methodologically, the research involves qualitative case studies, quantitative performance analysis, and expert interviews. Key findings indicate that IaC-enabled CI/CD pipelines lead to faster deployment times, reduced manual intervention, and increased consistency across environments. The research also identifies potential challenges, such as the complexity of IaC tools and the need for proper version control and testing strategies. Contributions of this study provide actionable insights for retail organizations aiming to optimize their infrastructure management and achieve operational agility. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research and practical applications of IaC in enhancing the resilience and efficiency of retail enterprises.
