As part of the staff-exchange program of the NORPART Project, won by Dilla University and UiT, five staff members of Dilla University have been in Tromso for a week. They have also held successful project meetings, seminars, and guest lectures with the UiT staff. The United Nations World Heritage Committee has nominated the Gedeo Cultural Landscape in the Gedeo Zone to be registered as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In its 45th meeting held today, the committee announced that it has decided to register Gedeo as a world heritage site in consideration of its high international significance. ABC reports that Minister of Tourism, Ambassador Nasise Chali and Director General of Heritage Research and Protection Authority (Assistant Professor) Ayaleu Ayaleu (Assistant Professor) who were present at the conference, gave an explanation to the participants about the Gedeo community's lifestyle and cultural landscape.
