VAGINAL INFECTION-PREVALENCE AND ANTIMICROBIAL SENSITIVITY PATTERN AMONG DIFFERENT AGE GROUP PATIENTS IN DHAKA CITY, BANGLADESH

Abstract

This retrospective study was done to detect the prevalence of vaginal infection among different age group patients in Dhaka city, Bangladesh. Out of 503 patients of high vaginal swab samples with marked age variations of 0 to 90 years of age, 45% were arisen vaginal infection. Among the outdoor patients, 43% and 49% indoor were positive where highest positive (46.05%) age group was 21-30 years. Prevalence of vaginosis was caused by 56% bacteria and 44% fungus and among bacteria, 39% Gram positive and 25% Gram negative. Different antibiotics have higher affectivity against different bacterial agent causing vaginal infection. In most of the cases, imepenum, meropenum and nitilmycin were showed higher effectiveness.
