Transgender, Transsexuality and Gender Dysphoria: Current Developments in Diagnostics and Therapy

Abstract

People whose gender experience does not correspond to the gender-related characteristics of their bodies require support from psychotherapeutic and somatomedical expertise on the path to gender transition. It therefore seems necessary that knowledge of the health-related care needs of transgender people increases among psychotherapists with specialist knowledge. This training article provides information on current developments in transition-specific diagnostics and health-related care for transgender people and refers to current developments that are significantly changing the clinical treatment of transgender people.
