Abstract
This study explores the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the educational sector, particularly within the context of higher education in Kerala, India. As AI technologies rapidly evolve, their integration into academic systems is transforming traditional teaching methodologies, curriculum development, student engagement, and overall academic performance. The study aims to assess students' awareness and usage of AI tools and evaluate the effectiveness of AI-driven educational tools. Employing a descriptive research design, both primary and secondary data were used. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires from 120 students using convenient sampling. Analytical tools such as Weighted Average Mean, percentage analysis, and Chi-Square test were applied to interpret the data. Key findings reveal that AI tool usage varies across demographics, with younger and female students showing greater familiarity. While students acknowledge the potential benefits of AI—such as timesaving, creative enhancement, and improved academic support. The study underscores the transformative role of AI in academia and recommends targeted interventions to enhance awareness, and effective AI integration in education could play a pivotal role in advancing academic quality and supporting broader national economic goals.
