Abstract
The Indian president was formed as the head of state and supreme commander of the Indian armed forces while the Indian Constitution was being written. Despite the fact that Article 53 of the Indian Constitution states that the President may exercise his powers directly or by subordinate authority, with a few notable exceptions, all executive powers granted to the President are actually exercised by the Prime Minister, a subordinate authority, with the help of the Council of Ministers.
