Obscene Phone Calls - Relationships to Paraphilias, Paraphilia-Related Disorders and Stalking

Abstract

Little is known about the aetiology, course and therapy of obscene telephone calls as a paraphilic behavior. Overlaps to other paraphilias like voyeurism, paraphilia related disorders and the concept of stalking are reported in the literature. In case reports we describe the paraphilic development and course with a focus on the relationship to the victim. We discuss this on the background of different concepts regarding risk assessment and therapy.
