Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between motivation to use condoms and prevalence of condom use errors and problems among heterosexual university students. A total of 473 participants (254 men and 219 women) who reported using the male condom in the last three months completed a questionnaire that assessed ll condom errors and 6 condom use problems, as well as self-reported motiva-tion to use condoms. The association between motivation and errors and problems was assessed for three comparisons: self-motivation, perceived partners’ motivation, and couple. For all three comparisons, the frequency of most condom use errors and problems was unrelated to level of motivation.
