IMAGE-BASED QUANTIFICATION OF RED AND WHITE BLOOD CELLS FOR MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS

Abstract

This research presents a significant advancement in the field of medical diagnosis through an innovative image-based quantification method for red and white blood cells. Traditional blood tests often require patients to wait for hours or even days for results. In contrast, this program provides rapid and immediate results as soon as a blood sample image is inputted, reducing patient wait times and enabling prompt action in case of any health issues. The program allows for the selection of a region of interest, detects and quantifies white blood cells (WBC) and red blood cells (RBC) efficiently, and displays the counts in the output image. Moreover, the versatility of this program allows for potential modifications to extend its applicability to other blood components distinguishable by color or size, opening up new possibilities for expedited and precise medical diagnoses.
