Gender Incongruence, Dysphoria and Trans* Health

Abstract

The following article presents the current developments in the diagnosis and treatment of gender incongruence and/or gender dysphoria. Both terms represent a paradigm shift that is intended to replace the classic treatment paradigm of transsexualism. Needs-based and interdisciplinary trans* health care is qualified by openness to gender diversity, flexibility for individual treatment processes and consideration of the social situation of those seeking treatment.
