Building Data Models for Regulatory Reporting in BFSI Using SAP Power Designer

Abstract

This paper explores how data modeling can improve the effectiveness and compliance of regulatory reporting in the BFSI sector using SAP PowerDesigner. Complying with regulations now requires banks, financial services or insurance firms to handle vast amounts of interconnected data from a wide range of geographical regions. Effective data architecture and modeling allow companies to achieve greater consistency, deliver reliable data lineage and produce more accurate regulatory reporting. The study demonstrates how SAP PowerDesigner enables regulatory requirements by providing support for the creation and management of both logical and physical data models, impact assessments and metadata manipulation. Issues concerning model governance, legacy system integration and rapidly changing regulatory regulations are also explored. Model-driven architecture is shown to improve the efficiency and clarity of processes related to regulatory compliance and reporting.
