A Semantic Interoperability Framework forCross-Institutional Integration of Heterogeneous Electronic Health Records
Abstract
In modern healthcare systems, the integration of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) across institutions poses a persistent challenge due to data heterogeneity, varying standards, and semantic discrepancies. This paper presents a semantic interoperability framework designed to facilitate seamless data exchange among disparate healthcare information systems. Grounded in contemporary technological advancements, the study analyzes current approaches, proposes a layered ontology-based architecture, and evaluates its performance across selected institutions. Results show a marked improvement in data consistency and accessibility, highlighting the transformative potential of semantic integration frameworks in fostering cross-institutional clinical collaboration.
