Zentralblatt fur Gynakologie (ZFG)
Journal Descriptions
Zentralblatt für Gynäkologie is one of the oldest and historically significant German medical journals in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Established in the late nineteenth century, it played a central role in documenting the evolution of women’s healthcare, surgical techniques, and reproductive medicine in Europe. The journal published original research articles, clinical studies, case reports, and review papers covering a wide spectrum of topics such as maternal health, prenatal and postnatal care, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, infertility, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. It also addressed emerging issues in fetal medicine, contraception, and women’s health policy. Primarily published in German, the journal later incorporated English language articles and abstracts to increase its international reach. It served as a valuable communication platform for gynecologists, obstetricians, and medical researchers, contributing to both clinical practice and academic research. Over time, the journal adapted to modern scientific publishing standards and became integrated into broader international publishing frameworks, maintaining its relevance in contemporary obstetrics and gynecology.
