Zeitschrift fur Kardiologie (ZK)
Journal Descriptions
Zeitschrift für Kardiologie was a leading German-language journal dedicated to cardiology and cardiovascular research. Established in 1973, it played a major role in the development and dissemination of knowledge in heart disease, clinical cardiology, and cardiovascular science across German-speaking countries. The journal was published by Springer-Verlag and served as an official or closely affiliated publication of the German Cardiac Society. The journal published peer-reviewed original research articles, clinical studies, case reports, and review papers covering a broad spectrum of cardiology. Topics included coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, cardiac imaging, and interventional cardiology. It also featured clinical guidelines, conference reports, and continuing medical education materials for practicing cardiologists. Over time, as medical publishing became increasingly international and English-dominated, the journal transitioned and was eventually continued under the title Clinical Research in Cardiology. This successor journal maintains international visibility and indexing in major databases such as Web of Science and Scopus.
