Journal Descriptions

Veterinary Radiology was a leading peer reviewed scientific journal devoted to veterinary diagnostic imaging and radiological sciences. Established in 1961, it served as the official publication of the American College of Veterinary Radiology and became one of the most influential journals in the field of veterinary imaging. The journal published original research articles, clinical studies, case reports, review articles, and technical notes focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in domestic animals, companion animals, equine species, exotic animals, and wildlife through advanced imaging techniques. Major areas of interest included conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, contrast imaging, radiation oncology, and interventional radiology. The journal promoted advances in imaging technology, image interpretation, diagnostic procedures, radiation safety, and clinical applications that improved veterinary healthcare. In 1992, the journal expanded its scope to include ultrasonography and was renamed Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, reflecting the increasing importance of ultrasound in veterinary medicine. Today, the successor journal continues to be recognized internationally as one of the premier journals in veterinary diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology.
