Journal Descriptions

The journal Tourism and Society (print ISSN: 0120-7555; digital ISSN: 2346-206X) began publication in 2002 and has established itself as an academic space that prioritizes debate and the exchange of ideas and positions regarding tourism as a complex phenomenon understood from an interdisciplinary perspective. The magazine contributes to the analysis of two fundamental pillars of the sector: territories and companies. Territories understood as natural, cultural, and symbolic spaces, and the tourism service providers that are part of the value chain. Founded in 2002 with an annual publication, the journal has adopted a biannual frequency since January 2015, in line with best editorial practices and the need to strengthen the circulation of scientific knowledge. The publication is aimed at academics, researchers, tourism specialists and professionals, as well as decision-makers, planners, industry entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders interested in understanding tourism as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon. In this sense, the journal positions itself as a fundamental reference tool for the critical and up-to-date study of contemporary tourism.
