Studies in the Age of Chaucer (SAC)
Journal Descriptions
Studies in the Age of Chaucer is an annual publication of the New Chaucer Society. We publish scholarly articles along with book reviews and a bibliography of recent criticism. Articles explore the culture and writing of later medieval Britain (1200-1500), including writing produced in other times or places that engages with later medieval British literary culture. We invite analysis of works written in Middle English, French, Latin, Hebrew, or any of the other languages that circulated in medieval Britain. In alternate years, we publish the presidential address and plenary lecture from the biennial NCS congress. Most articles are sent to two readers for review, and authors usually receive their reports within 3 months of the article's submission. Both the article and the reports are anonymous. Articles accepted in one calendar year are typically published in the following year. All volumes of Studies in the Age of Chaucer, from the first 1979 volume forward, are available electronically on ProjectMUSE.
