Special Care in Dentistry (SCD) is an international, peer reviewed scientific journal established in 1981 and serves as the official journal of the Special Care Dentistry Association (SCDA). Published bimonthly by Wiley Periodicals LLC, the journal is dedicated to improving oral health care for individuals with special health care needs. It is the only North American journal devoted exclusively to research and clinical practice involving patients whose oral health care is complicated by physical, developmental, intellectual, medical, behavioral, emotional, social, or age related conditions. The journal publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, clinical investigations, case reports, technical reports, clinical techniques, and scholarly discussions related to special care dentistry. Its scope includes hospital dentistry, geriatric dentistry, dentistry for people with disabilities, oral care for medically compromised patients, behavioral management, sedation, public health, preventive dentistry, and interdisciplinary approaches to patient care. The journal follows a rigorous peer review process and adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics to ensure scientific quality and integrity.
