Sokoto Journal of Veterinary Sciences (SJVS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. Established in 1999, the journal was created to promote advancement in veterinary medicine and animal sciences while encouraging the exchange of scientific knowledge among researchers, clinicians, and academics in related fields. SJVS publishes original research articles, review papers, case reports, short communications, and editorials covering a broad range of topics including livestock health and production, veterinary public health, zoonotic diseases, wildlife and fish diseases, preventive medicine, and clinical veterinary practice. The journal ensures rigorous peer-review through a double-blind system involving multiple expert reviewers to maintain high scientific quality and integrity. Since 2018, SJVS has followed a quarterly publication schedule, releasing four issues annually in March, June, September, and December. It is indexed in several international databases and is widely accessible through online platforms. The journal plays a significant role in supporting veterinary research in Africa and beyond by providing an affordable and accessible publication avenue for researchers. Its mission is to enhance veterinary knowledge, improve animal health practices, and contribute to food security and public health through scientific innovation and collaboration.
