SEG Discovery (SEG D)
Journal Descriptions
SEG Discovery is a professional geoscience publication produced by the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). It serves as the official quarterly magazine for SEG members and the global community of economic geologists. The publication was originally launched in 1990 as the SEG Newsletter, created to expand the society news and technical content previously included in the journal Economic Geology. In 2020, the publication was renamed SEG Discovery to modernize the format and broaden its coverage of industry-focused geoscience topics. The magazine publishes feature articles, technical overviews, case studies, and news relevant to mineral exploration, ore deposit geology, and the global mining industry. Articles often focus on new exploration methods, mineral deposit models, field discoveries, and regional geological studies related to economically important mineral resources. In addition to research-oriented articles, the publication includes society news, conference announcements, educational updates, and reports on emerging technologies used in mineral exploration. SEG Discovery aims to promote knowledge exchange between academic researchers, industry geologists, and exploration professionals. Through its accessible style and illustrated technical features, the publication provides practical insights into mineral exploration strategies and geological discoveries worldwide. It is widely read by geologists, mining engineers, and Earth science researchers interested in economic geology and mineral resource development.
