Journal Descriptions

The objectives of Scientia Iranica are two-fold. The first is to provide a forum for the presentation of original works by scientists and engineers from around the world. The second is to open an effective channel to enhance the level of communication between scientists and engineers and the exchange of state-of-the-art research and ideas. The scope of the journal is broad and multidisciplinary in technical sciences and engineering. It encompasses theoretical and experimental research. Specific areas include but not limited to chemistry, chemical and geoenergy engineering, civil engineering, computer science & engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, nanotechnology. Transactions of Scientia Iranica classify articles in the following spectrums: Transactions A: Civil Engineering, published semi-annually Transactions B: Mechanical Engineering, published bimonthly Transactions C: Chemistry, published semi-annually Transactions D: Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering, published bimonthly Transactions E: Industrial Engineering, published bimonthly Transactions F: Nanotechnology, published semi-annually Transactions H: Chemical and Geoenergy Engineering, published semi-annually Transactions A, of Scientia Iranica, which is on Civil Engineering, has, as its main objective, the publication and dissemination of original research in the field of Civil Engineering, which includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of study: Structural Engineering, Engineering Materials, Coastal and Harbor Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Information Technology, Surveying and Geo-Spatial Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Tunnel Engineering and Water Engineering. The publication fosters the exchange of ideas between those interested in the constitutive disciplines of engineering design and may include work which emphasizes research into different aspects of the foundations and applications of the field. The emphasis is placed on analytical, experimental and numerical works, which are of permanent interest to research scientists and engineers in the Civil Engineering field. Transactions B, which is on Mechanical Engineering, has, as its main objective, the publication and dissemination of original research in the field of Mechanical Engineering which includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of study: Aerodynamics, Automation and Control, Biomechanics, Design and Manufacturing, Fluid and Hydro Mechanics, Kinematics and Dynamic Systems, Mechanics of Continua, Mechanisms and Robotics, Mechatronics, Microelectromechanical Systems and Thermal Systems. The publication fosters the exchange of ideas between those interested in the constitutive disciplines of engineering design and may include work, which emphasizes research into different aspects. The emphasis is placed on analytical, experimental and numerical works, which are of permanent interest to research scientists and engineers in the Mechanical Engineering. Transactions C, which is on Chemistry has, as its objective, the publication and dissemination of original research work in the field of Chemistry, which includes all aspects of applied and theoretical chemistry. In keeping with the objectives of Scientia Iranica, this section emphasizes different aspects of the foundations and applications of the field, in order to further develop international academic exchange between chemistry experts and researchers around the world. Transactions D, is divided into two sections: Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The initial section which is on Computer Science & Engineering has, as its objective, the publication and dissemination of original research works in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering, which include, but are not limited to, the following subject areas: artificial intelligence, compilers, computer architectures, computer dependability and security, computer networks and distributed systems, data management, design automation and configurable computing, digital signal processing, embedded systems, operating systems, processor and system architectures, real-time systems, soft computing, software engineering, theoretical computer science, verification, test and design for test. The latter section on Electrical Engineering with the goal of presentation and distribution of original research works in the fields of Electrical Engineering includes, but is not limited to, such research areas as: information theory, encryption secure communications, wireless communications, satellite and radar, control systems, quantum electronic devices, microelectronics, RF integrated circuits and systems, biomedical engineering and imaging, power electronics, energy management systems, photonics, nanophotonics, electromagnetic, antenna and propagation, optical networks and communications, communication theory, and data networks. Transactions D intend to foster the exchange of ideas between scientists and engineers all around the world and also among researchers who emphasize different aspects of the foundations and applications of the fields. Transactions E, which is on Industrial Engineering, has, as its objective, the publication and dissemination of original, quality articles reporting recent advances in industrial engineering theory, techniques, methodology applications and practice. It fosters the exchange of ideas between engineers and researchers around the world and also those who emphasize different aspects of the foundations and applications of the field. Articles of primary interest for publication in this issue of Scientia Iranica should include, but not be limited to, the following fields: operations research and decision-making models, quality engineering, production and inventory control, artificial intelligence in industrial engineering, engineering economy and cost estimation, facilities design and location, maintenance and reliability engineering, materials handling, performance analysis, discrete event system simulation, project control and management, work measurement and methods engineering, heuristics and meta-heuristics, resource optimization, applied statistics, manufacturing processes and designs, human factors and ergonomics and information systems. Papers of primary interest to the constitutive disciplines of engineering design may be published, provided they contain materials which will further knowledge in any of the above fields of interest. Transactions F, of Scientia Iranica aims to publish high quality standard papers at the forefront of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and especially those of an interdisciplinary nature in the areas of structures, materials and devices with nanometer-scale. It compasses analytical, experimental and numerical works to make substantial advances in these fields through enhancing the fundamental understanding of physics, chemistry, biology and technology of nanomaterials and devices. Special emphasis is placed on the application of the technology in the areas of health and medicine, energy, environment, transportation, and construction. The transaction intends to provide a major reference source of comprehensive fundamental and applied knowledge in all disciplines of science, engineering and medicine related to Nanotechnology. Transactions H, The objective of this transaction is to encompass all aspects of: - Chemical Engineering: reporting on industrial and academic research within the broad fields of chemical and biomolecular/biochemical engineering. Papers may be based on experimental, computational, theoretical, mathematical, or descriptive work, covering chemical, physical, or biological aspects. We particularly welcome accounts of research that combine multiple approaches (e.g., experimentation with validation by modeling or vice versa). We aim to present reports on significant fundamental research advances drawing on core areas such as thermodynamics, transport phenomena, chemical reaction kinetics and engineering, catalysis, separations, and process systems engineering. In addition, we invite reports on significant advances in product research and development that utilize chemical and engineering principles to enhance or create new catalysts, plastics, sorbents, membranes, and advanced functional materials. Examples include materials for controlled delivery, storage, or energy conversion. Papers dealing with emerging areas of science and technology aligning with the broad scope and objectives of the journal are encouraged. Subject categories include: Biomolecular Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemicals, Biofuels, and Food, Materials: Synthesis and Processing, Polymer Engineering, Particle Technology and Fluidization, Process Systems Engineering and Control, Reaction Engineering, Kinetics, and Catalysis, Separations: Materials, Devices, and Processes, Soft Materials: Synthesis, Processing, and Products, Thermodynamics and Molecular-Scale Phenomena, Transport Phenomena and Fluid Mechanics, Energy, Environmental Science and Engineering. - Geoenergy Engineering: Geoenergy Engineering aims to encompass all aspects of engineering and the science of geoenergy and sustainable hydrocarbon production by publishing articles understandable to scientists, engineers, and geologists in related fields. The Geoenergy Engineering section of Scientia Iranica focuses on publishing articles with a particular emphasis on energy transition and achieving net-zero emission targets. General topics include responsible and sustainable energy generation; carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS); geothermal energy; hydrogen production, transport, and geostorage; underground gas storage; application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics in the energy industry; and sustainable hydrocarbon exploration and production. Subject categories include: Oil Reservoir Engineering, Drilling Engineering, Production Engineering & Optimization, Petroleum Economics, Petroleum Geology, Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology, Fuel Science and Technology, Underground Energy Storage.
