Revue d’histoire littéraire de la France (RDLF)
Journal Descriptions
Founded in 1894, every two months the Revue publishes a collection of articles and information essential to all those working on French literature from the 15th century to the present day. Articles focus on new contributions to objective knowledge: biographies of writers, history of the publication, reception and interpretation of works, studies of sources, history of genres, forms, themes and motifs. The Revue publishes many previously unpublished works. An important part of each issue is made up of reviews of recent editions and critical works, providing a broad overview of current research. Each year, one issue is devoted to a complete bibliography of research on French literature (the previous year's output), compiled in collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale de France. A worldwide network of correspondents ensures the solidity of truly international information. Attentive to the exhaustive nature of its documentation and the clarity of its content, RHLF is defined by a concern for rigor borrowed from the methods of History, and by the project of preserving the unity of French literature as a scientific object, a unity often threatened by overly narrow specializations. The journal is published by the Société d'histoire littéraire de la France, and is scientifically recognized by the CNRS.
