Journal Descriptions

Przegląd Zachodniopomorski is a peer-reviewed academic journal published in Szczecin, Poland, since 2019. It is one of the most important regional scholarly journals devoted to the history and social development of Western Pomerania and neighboring territories. The journal evolved from the earlier periodical Szczecin, which had been published since 1957 as a monthly and later a bimonthly publication. The journal primarily publishes original research articles in history, while also welcoming contributions from sociology, political science, and related social sciences whose findings support historical investigations and are connected to the West Pomeranian region. Its scope includes studies of regional history, cultural heritage, archaeology, social transformations, political developments, and interdisciplinary research concerning Central European borderlands. Articles are published mainly in Polish, although submissions in English and German are also accepted. The journal contains sections devoted to research articles, book reviews, and memorial essays. Over several decades it has published hundreds of scholarly studies addressing both historical and contemporary issues of Western Pomerania. The journal follows rigorous peer-review standards, provides open access to all content, and is indexed in major databases including Scopus, DOAJ, ERIH Plus, CEEOL, and CEJSH.
