Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (PA)

Povolzhskaya Arkheologiya (The Volga River Region Archaeology) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to archaeology and related historical disciplines. Founded in 2017, the journal is published by the A.Kh. Khalikov Institute of Archaeology of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences in collaboration with Mari State University. The journal serves as a significant platform for researchers investigating the archaeology, history, anthropology, and cultural development of the Eurasian steppes, particularly the Volga, Ural, and North-Caspian regions. These territories have historically functioned as major crossroads between Europe and Asia and played a crucial role in the formation and interaction of numerous ancient and medieval cultures. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, excavation reports, interdisciplinary studies, and scholarly discussions covering all chronological periods, from prehistory to modern times. Contributions are accepted in both Russian and English and undergo rigorous peer review.
