Journal Descriptions

The New South Wales Public Health Bulletin was a peer reviewed public health journal published by the New South Wales Department of Health in Australia. Established in 1990, the journal was created to facilitate the rapid dissemination of public health information and to support the development of a knowledgeable and skilled public health workforce. It became an important source of information for health professionals, epidemiologists, policymakers, researchers, and public health practitioners both within Australia and internationally. The journal published original research articles, surveillance reports, policy analyses, public health reviews, outbreak investigations, environmental health studies, health promotion initiatives, and communicable disease updates. A major objective was to provide evidence based information that could support effective public health action and improve population health outcomes. The Bulletin also served as a platform for reporting innovative public health programs and major health policy developments occurring in New South Wales and across Australia. The journal was indexed in major databases including MEDLINE and Index Medicus, enhancing its international visibility and academic impact. In 2014, the Bulletin ceased publication and was succeeded by Public Health Research & Practice, which continues its mission of connecting research, policy, and public health practice.
