Microbial Physiology (MP)
Journal Descriptions
Microbial Physiology is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Karger Publishers. The journal was renamed from the Journal of Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology in 2021 to better reflect its expanded focus on the physiology, metabolism, and molecular biology of microorganisms. It provides a forum for publishing high-quality basic and applied research on bacteria, archaea, fungi, microalgae, and other microorganisms. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, short communications, perspectives, and methodological studies covering microbial physiology, metabolism, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, systems biology, synthetic biology, microbial ecology, and biotechnology. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding microbial functions at the molecular, cellular, and community levels, as well as their applications in medicine, agriculture, environmental science, industrial biotechnology, and bioengineering. Research on microbial adaptation, stress responses, metabolic regulation, antimicrobial resistance, host–microbe interactions, and emerging experimental technologies is especially encouraged. The journal maintains rigorous peer review and promotes rapid dissemination of significant discoveries to researchers worldwide. It is indexed in major bibliographic databases, including PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, BIOSIS, and Chemical Abstracts Service, ensuring broad international visibility.
