Life Sciences in Space Research (LSSR)
Journal Descriptions
Life Sciences in Space Research is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in space biology, space medicine, astrobiology, and related life science disciplines associated with space exploration. Established in 2014, the journal is published by Elsevier on behalf of the Committee on Space Research and serves as a specialized platform for research addressing biological and medical challenges encountered in space environments. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and technical studies covering a broad range of topics, including the effects of microgravity on living organisms, space radiation biology, human adaptation to spaceflight, planetary habitability, ecological life-support systems, and the origins of life. Research involving animal models, cellular and molecular responses to space conditions, radiation dosimetry, and countermeasures for long-duration missions is also within its scope. As an official COSPAR journal, Life Sciences in Space Research promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among biologists, physicians, aerospace scientists, physicists, and engineers. The journal contributes significantly to scientific understanding necessary for future lunar, Martian, and deep-space missions while supporting advancements in human health, biotechnology, and environmental sustainability in space.
