Journal of Website Promotion (JWP)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Website Promotion was a peer-reviewed academic journal published between 2005 and 2008 by Haworth Press. It focused on the emerging field of online marketing, digital promotion strategies, and internet-based business communication. During the early growth phase of the commercial internet, the journal provided a scholarly platform for researchers and professionals studying how websites could be optimized, promoted, and monetized effectively. The journal published research articles, case studies, and theoretical papers on topics such as search engine optimization (SEO), web analytics, online advertising, e-commerce promotion strategies, internet branding, consumer behavior on digital platforms, and digital content marketing. It also explored technical aspects of website visibility, including search engine ranking algorithms, metadata optimization, and link-building strategies. A key contribution of the journal was bridging traditional marketing theory with digital technologies at a time when online business promotion was rapidly evolving. It helped establish early academic foundations for what is now known as digital marketing and internet marketing science. Although the journal was discontinued in 2008, its research remains historically important in understanding the early development of website promotion and digital marketing practices. Many of its themes are now central to modern marketing, SEO, and online business strategy research.
