Journal Descriptions

Journal of Trauma was a leading peer reviewed medical journal dedicated to the study, management, and surgical treatment of traumatic injuries. Established in 1961, it became one of the most influential publications in trauma surgery and emergency medicine. The journal focused on research related to injury mechanisms, trauma resuscitation, surgical interventions, critical care management, and outcomes of trauma patients. Over its publication history, it served as the official journal for major trauma surgery associations, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. It published high quality original research articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and case studies that addressed both civilian and military trauma care. Topics included blunt and penetrating injuries, head trauma, abdominal and thoracic injuries, vascular trauma, hemorrhage control, and advances in emergency surgical techniques. The journal also contributed significantly to the development of modern trauma systems, including trauma centers, prehospital care protocols, and damage control surgery. It provided evidence based guidance that influenced emergency departments and surgical practices worldwide.
