Journal for the Education of the Gifted (JEG)
Journal Descriptions
Journal for the Education of the Gifted (JEG) is a long‑standing, internationally distributed journal dedicated to advancing research and practice in the field of gifted education. Since its inception in 1978, JEG has been published quarterly by SAGE Publications in association with The Association for the Gifted, a division of the Council for Exceptional Children. The journal prioritizes scholarship that deepens understanding of the cognitive, affective, social, and educational dimensions of gifted and talented learners across diverse contexts. It publishes original empirical studies that explore gifted learners’ academic talent development, motivation, creativity, and wellbeing, as well as theoretical and conceptual work that challenges and refines the field’s paradigms. In addition, JEG features reviews, program descriptions, and policy analyses that inform educational practice and leadership. With an editorial emphasis on rigorous methodology, relevance to practice, and inclusivity of perspectives, the journal contributes to evidence‑based decision making in schools and institutions that serve high‑ability students. Its audience includes researchers, doctoral students, teacher educators, school administrators, counselors, and others interested in evolving educational strategies that support gifted learners’ potential. JEG’s quarterly issues provide a continuing forum for scholarly dialogue that shapes research, teaching, and policy in gifted education worldwide.
