International Journal of Online Engineering (IJOE)
Journal Descriptions
International Journal of Online Engineering (IJOE) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal focused on the development and application of online engineering, remote laboratories, and e-learning technologies in engineering education and research. Established in 2011, the journal was among the pioneering publications promoting internet-based experimentation and remote access to engineering laboratories. The journal publishes original research articles, technical papers, case studies, and reviews covering topics such as remote engineering experiments, virtual laboratories, teleoperation systems, embedded systems for online labs, educational technologies, simulation-based learning, and ICT-enabled engineering education. A major emphasis of IJOE is enabling students and researchers to access real laboratory environments remotely using web technologies, making engineering education more flexible and globally accessible. It is widely associated with the International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE), which supports innovation in digital engineering education and collaborative research. Over time, the journal expanded its scope to include biomedical engineering and e-health applications, leading to its continuation as the International Journal of Online and Biomedical Engineering. The journal has contributed significantly to the fields of smart learning environments, Industry 4.0 education, and remote experimentation platforms.
