Indian Drugs is the scientific publication of the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA). The Indian Drugs Journal started its journey towards Nation building in 1963 with the aim to provide an excellent opportunity to the Indian Pharmaceutical research community to publish their original research manuscripts without charging any fees. The journal has started its online publication from 2012. Indian Drugs is published monthly and is respected for its peer-reviewed scientific and technical papers in english language. The disciplines covered under Applied sciences are: (I) Pharmaceutical Chemistry (II) Phytochemistry/Natural Products (III) Pharmaceutics (IV) Pharmaceutical Analysis (V) Pharmacology. We receive about 450 to 500 papers in a year, a number of which are from international institutions of repute, of which only about 30 to 35% are accepted for publication. The decision as to whether or not a paper is suitable for publication, though ultimately decided by the Editors, depends on a team of expert referees who perform the demanding and often unacknowledged task of sharing their expert opinions as to the merit of the research presented. This team of dedicated referees scrutinize the Research Papers and all of them work on an honorary basis and only their love and commitment for the subject matter and the growth of R&D in the pharmaceutical sciences drives them on. We sincerely acknowledge their contribution and dedicated support for the growth of 'Indian Drugs'. The publication has a circulation of 2200 copies and is distributed to all IDMA members as a members' privilege. It is also available by subscription to members of the industry, university libraries and government departments. We also provide soft copies of Indian Drugs to Institutes/Colleges and to our reviewers in India. In the early 80's, the editors felt that the R&D efforts in drugs and pharmaceuticals of our scientists in academia and industry must be encouraged and the best among the papers published in Indian Drugs must be suitably recognized. Thus the ‘Indian Drugs Best Research Paper Awards’ were instituted in 1981-82 in the five disciplines of : Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Phytochemistry & Pharmacognosy (now Natural Products), Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmacology. An award for the Best Review Article was later introduced in 2001. Mr Ajit Singh, Chairman, ACG Associated Capsules Pvt. Ltd was keen to support this initiative and from 2018 onwards the Award is known as 'IDMA ACG-SCITECH RESEARCH PAPER AWARD'. A Citation, Plaque and a Cash Award are given to each Paper and all the authors of the selected Papers are invited to receive the Award at the IDMA Annual Day Celebrations. We are proud and happy that these Award winners have gone on to achieve many more laurels in their careers, in India and abroad. We also publish the list of Indian Drugs Reviewers' who have contributed during the year and 'Instructions to Authors' once in year. We welcome all accomplished scientists and researchers to join us in this journey of building the scientific skills of the young researchers of our country.
