Il Saggiatore Musicale (ISM)
Journal Descriptions
The journal aims to foster the movement of critical musicology, both in Italy and abroad. Its title is taken from Galileo's Discourse on Comets, Italy's finest polemical work. It publishes in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German, with abstracts in Italian or English. The journal does not represent any organization other than the group of scholars who animate and direct it. It is based in the Department of Arts at the University of Bologna and is affiliated with the association "Il Saggiatore musicale," which has promoted conferences, conventions, study days, doctoral meetings, and musicological colloquia since 1995. Since 2007, it has also established a Working Group for Music Education (SagGEM), and since 2011, a digital journal of music pedagogy and teaching, "Musica docta" (ISSN 2039-9715; ABIS-AlmaDL). Founded in 1994 by Lorenzo Bianconi, Renato Di Benedetto, F. Alberto Gallo, Roberto Leydi and Antonio Serravezza
