Health systems in transition (HST)

Health Systems in Transition (HiT) is a well-known international publication series that provides comprehensive, structured descriptions of national health systems across Europe and selected OECD and partner countries. Each HiT report presents an in-depth analysis of how a country’s health system is organized, financed, governed, and delivered. It also examines ongoing reforms, policy developments, and challenges faced by health systems. The series is produced by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies in collaboration with the World Health Organization. Reports are prepared by country experts and follow a standardized template, ensuring comparability across countries. Topics covered include health service delivery, health financing mechanisms, workforce structure, access to care, equity, efficiency, and health system performance. HiT reports are widely used by policymakers, researchers, and international organizations for evidence-based health policy development and comparative analysis. Unlike traditional journals, HiT does not publish regular issues but releases individual country reports periodically as updates become available. These reports serve as key reference documents for understanding global health system structures and reform strategies.
