Ghana Journal of Religion and Theology (GJRT)
Journal Descriptions
Ghana Journal of Religion and Theology (GJRT) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes scholarly research on religion, theology, and related interdisciplinary studies. The journal is produced by the Department for the Study of Religions at the University of Ghana and serves as a forum for critical discussions on religious traditions, theological perspectives, and ethical issues affecting societies in Africa and around the world. The journal developed from the earlier Ghana Bulletin of Theology, which was established to promote scholarly engagement with religious studies and theological education. Over time, the publication evolved into the Ghana Journal of Religion and Theology to expand its academic reach and encourage broader interdisciplinary research on religion and society. The journal publishes original research articles, review essays, book reviews, and scholarly discussions covering areas such as biblical studies, African traditional religions, Islamic studies, Christian theology, philosophy of religion, and interfaith dialogue. It particularly encourages research that explores the role of religion in social development, cultural identity, peacebuilding, and ethical decision-making. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure high academic quality and integrity. By providing a platform for scholars from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, the Ghana Journal of Religion and Theology contributes to advancing knowledge and promoting constructive dialogue on religious issues in Ghana, Africa, and the global academic community.
