Journal Descriptions

Founded in 1990 by Gabriel Dupuy, Flux publishes articles making an original scientific contribution to the field of networks: public transport, roads, water distribution and sewerage, energy networks, telecommunications, and more. The growing presence of these technical networks in economic and social life is disrupting the organization of space, the operation of firms, the basis of local power and the use of new technologies. Flux is particularly interested in the ways in which these networks are designed and operated, and the relationships they maintain with the territories they serve. From this perspective, Flux is one of the few French academic journals to tackle this original theme of networks, whose mutations deserve analysis and interpretation, judgement and debate, so much so that they structure the future of our societies. Texts published in Flux highlight specific and common characteristics of networks: studies of network development, international comparisons, methods for analyzing network functionality, in-depth analysis of concepts specific to network operation or management. In this context, Flux welcomes articles focusing not only on physical networks, but also on networked services. Urban planners, geographers, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, political scientists, historians, network designers and operators are all welcome. The magazine also publishes short texts, research notes, survey reports, symposium reports, reading notes, discussion forums and more. Draft articles are submitted for review by two members of the Editorial Board and Scientific Committee, who may request modifications or additions from the author. Evaluation criteria take into account the relevance of the text to the "networks" issue, scientific originality, accuracy of information and readability.
