Experimental Diabesity Research was a peer-reviewed international scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge on the relationship between diabetes and obesity, collectively referred to as "diabesity." The journal was established in 2000 as a continuation of the International Journal of Experimental Diabetes Research and served as a specialized platform for basic, translational, and clinical investigations into metabolic diseases. The term diabesity reflects the close association between obesity and type 2 diabetes, a growing global health concern. The journal published original research articles, reviews, and experimental studies focusing on the molecular, cellular, physiological, and clinical mechanisms underlying diabetes, obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and related endocrine disorders. Areas of interest included pancreatic β-cell biology, adipose tissue function, glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, inflammation, genetics of metabolic disease, and novel therapeutic interventions. Researchers from endocrinology, metabolism, nutrition, pharmacology, and biomedical sciences contributed to the journal. In 2005–2006 the journal did not publish new issues and was subsequently succeeded by Experimental Diabetes Research in 2007, which later evolved into the Journal of Diabetes Research. Despite its short publication history, the journal contributed valuable research during a period of rapidly increasing scientific interest in obesity-related diabetes.
