Ethiopian Journal of Health Sciences (EJHS)

The Ethiopian Journal of Health Sciences (EJHS) is a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal published by the Institute of Health at Jimma University in Ethiopia. The journal was first launched in 1990 under the title Bulletin of Jimma Institute of Health Sciences and later renamed to its current title as the institution evolved into Jimma University. Over the years, EJHS has developed into one of the leading medical and public health journals in Ethiopia and the African region. The journal publishes high-quality scholarly articles that contribute to the advancement of medical science and public health research. It accepts a wide range of manuscripts including original research articles, review papers, case reports, short communications, and book reviews. The scope of the journal includes clinical medicine, epidemiology, environmental health, nutrition, health systems research, and biomedical sciences. EJHS follows a rigorous peer-review process in which submitted manuscripts are evaluated by independent experts to ensure scientific accuracy and research quality. The journal has gradually expanded its publication frequency and currently releases issues every two months. It is indexed in several major international databases such as MEDLINE, PubMed Central, and African Journals Online, which has significantly increased its global visibility. Through the dissemination of research findings, the journal contributes to improving healthcare knowledge, policy development, and evidence-based medical practice in Ethiopia and worldwide.
